Frequently Asked Questions

I work with men and women from late adolescents (18 and up) through adults of all ages as well as couples. Sessions are typically 50 minutes long for individuals session and 60 for couples counseling. Initially, I recommend that we meet on a weekly basis. The duration of treatment is dependent on factors such as, but not limited to, your goals, your dedication, how often you can come, the nature and complexity of the issues you are seeking to address, how long you have been dealing with your specific issues, and finances. There are benefits to both short and long term therapy and we can work together to determine what is best to meet your needs.

-Physical/emotional trauma

-Feelings of shame or guilt to release

I have standard fees but do offer a sliding scale on a limited basis for those in financial need. If you have financial concerns but are dedicated to your personal growth, please contact me to see if we can come to an arrangement that works for both of us.

I do not accept or bill insurance directly for payment. However, if you have a PPO health plan, your provider may be able to reimburse you for a percentage of what you have already paid for services. You can contact your insurance company’s Member Services Department ahead of time and ask them how you can be reimbursed for an “out of network provider” and at what percentage they will reimburse. Please note that payment must be paid in full at the time are each session. I can provide you with a receipt which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Unfortunately, I do not accept HMO, Medicaid, or Medicare insurance for payment.

I accept cash, check, or PayPal for payment

Consistency is a really essential ingredient to successful therapy. I do, however, understand that there are occasions that something might prevent you from keeping your regularly scheduled appointment. In the event you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask that you please notify me as soon as possible. A full session fee is charged for missed appointments or cancellations with less than a 24-hour notice. Your courtesy is appreciated in advance.
You can schedule appts by email or phone.
Clients who cannot come to the office because of distance or travel problems can schedule phone or video-conferencing sessions. Beside being convenient, phone or video-conferencing sessions can be very effective. The standard therapy rates apply.
In my experience, this is a very important question. Do you feel connected? Do you feel heard? Do you feel safe enough to move forward? In therapy we talk about “fit” within the relationship. Is this therapy fit correct for this time in your life? When the fit is experienced as safe within our relationship, we can collaborate and start to be curious about how it is for you when people/places/or parts of yourself are not feel balanced or aligned. How will I know when I am finished with therapy?
This is also an important question. Depending on circumstance, it can be as challenging to leave a situation as it is to begin. Some people are seeking direct support for a very present experience and only come for a few sessions. Others are working with more sustained or complex trauma or patterns that have woven their way into many areas of one’s life, and develop a longer term sustained relationship. Always, we are holding the question together: How is it going? I welcome this question and all responses. Sometimes it’s very important to learn to stay. At other times it’s important to learn to go. My aspiration is to make myself useless in your life, so that you can develop the internal capacity to bring more awareness and less reactivity to your decisions.
